Dunstable Town railway station Dunstable Town railway station (originally Dunstable Church Street) was a station on the Great Northern Railway branch line from Hatfield. It served the town of Dunstable until the passenger service ceased in 1965 under the Beeching axe. The line itself continued with a goods service serving the Bedford Trucks factory in Dunstable until well into the 1980s, and the line has never been legally decommissioned between Luton and Dunstable, although it is no longer in use. Dunstable is now one of the largest towns in south-east England without a railway connection.[1] The station was immortalised in 1964 in the song "Slow Train" by Flanders and Swann. The station was on Station Road. Dunstable Dunstable (pronounced /ˈdʌnstəbəl/) is a market town in Bedfordshire, England. It lies on the eastward tail spurs of the Chiltern Hills, 30 miles north of London. These geographical features form several steep chalk escarpments most noticeable when approaching Dunstable from the north. Information by Wikipedia.com
