Coombe, Liskeard

Coombe is a settlement in the county of Cornwall in the United Kingdom. It is situated some one mile south-west of the town of Liskeard. Nearby is Coombe Junction Halt, a little used station and reversing point on the Looe Valley Line railway branch line from Liskeard to Looe.

Addington is a residential area of north-east Liskeard, in Cornwall, England at OS grid ref SW260650.

Pilton, Devon

White's Devonshire Directory (published 1850) described Pilton in these terms:-

Pilton railway station

Pilton Yard, in the village of Pilton, to the north of Barnstaple was, between 1895 and 1935, the main depot and operating centre of the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway ('L&B'), a narrow gauge line that ran through Exmoor from Barnstaple to Lynton and Lynmouth in north Devon. Goods facilities were also provided at Pilton, but passengers were catered for at the nearby LSWR station, Barnstaple Town, which provided connections with trains on the standard gauge branch line to Ilfracombe. The L&B's main offices were also based at Pilton, in a building formerly belonging to the Tannery which had earlier occupied the site, and which took over the site after the railway closed.

Barnstaple Town railway station

During the 1980s and early 1990s the old LSWR signal box was operated as a small museum for the L&B and the station building was in use as a restaurant. The signal box is now (2007) empty but the station building is used for local authority educational purposes.
