Gatton Park

Now owned by The Royal Alexandra and Albert school, Gatton Park constitutes 250 acres (1.0 km2) of manor and parkland. The property is Grade II listed and is in part administered by the National Trust. The manor's history can be traced to the Domesday Book of 1086.[1]

Redhill, Surrey

A major factor in the development of the town was the coming of the railway. Redhill railway station continues to be an important junction. Redhill is also one of the few places in the UK where Fuller's Earth can be extracted[citation needed]Alfred Nobel demonstrated dynamite for the first time at a Redhill quarry in 1867[citation needed]

Ewell West railway station

The typical off-peak service from the station is 4 trains per hour to London Waterloo, 2 trains per hour to Guildford and 2 trains per hour to Dorking.

Epsom College

It was founded in 1855 to provide support for poor members of the medical profession. Funding for such a bold undertaking proved inadequate to the task, resulting in a reduced number of buildings and therefore insufficient space to support 100 pensioners and 100 boys. In the 1860s, partially as a result of this, the school was opened up to children of non-medical parents. In subsequent decades, pensioners were supported off-site, until there were none on campus by the end of the 19th century. These moves mark the transition towards the College becoming a public school in the modern sense.
