Royal Cornwall Agricultural Show

The Royal Cornwall Agricultural Show, usually called the Royal Cornwall Show, is an agricultural show organised by the The Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, which takes place at the beginning of June each year, at Wadebridge in North Cornwall.

Kenwyn

Paul Robins, the Bible Christian pioneer in Canada was born in Kenwyn. Joseph Antonio Emidy, the composer and former slave is buried here, as is Charles Foster Barham, the physician and antiquarian. The Rt Revd Edward Harold Browne (Bishop of Winchester) was Vicar of Kenwyn, 1849?1857, and also held the living of Kea, and from 1854 the Norrisian Chair at Cambridge. John Rundle Cornish was also Vicar of Kenwyn and subsequently Bishop of St Germans.[7]Conrad Meyer was a later vicar who also went on to become a bishop.

Truro

The main attraction for local residents in the region is the wide variety of shops. Truro has a selection of chain stores, speciality shops and markets, which reflect its historic tradition as a market town. The indoor Pannier Market is open year-round with many stalls and small businesses. The city is also popular for its eateries, including cafés and bistros. Additionally, it has emerged as a popular destination for nightlife with many bars, clubs and restaurants opening. Truro is also known for the Hall for Cornwall, a performing arts and entertainment venue.

Hall for Cornwall

During the 1960s, 1970s and earlier 1980s the hall deteriorated. It was used in the 1970s and early 1980s as a venue for Truro's famous 'flea market' which proved extremely popular (the bar area and outside entrance is still used for the Truro antiques market right up to the present day). However, by the mid 1980s, Carrick District Council broached the idea of selling City Hall for redevelopment. Ben Luxon, Chris Warner and some Carrick councillors met to discuss the future of the hall. Carrick offered them a 125-year lease on the Hall at £1 a year and £500,000. They accepted and the campaign for a new City Hall began. Five years after taking over the hall, the contractors moved in. Work on the high tech venue took just over 18 months and the inaugural performance took place on November 15th 1997.
