What to Do before Moving Out
Published on Tuesday, 12 January 2010 If your lease contract is almost up you should inform your landlord about your intention to move out. Depending on your contract, you would usually have to give your landlord a notice of your intention and your moving out date 30 days or 60 days beforehand. If you do this later, you could be penalized and end up getting less than your total security deposit. Since you have a moving out date already, you should make sure that you will be ready to move out in time. You should start packing your things right away. Of course, you should begin with the things you will not use until the day you move out and end with the most essential items. If you lack the time and if you have big and fragile or delicate items, you can hire a removals company to pack for you. You should also make sure that everything is clean before you leave. The important thing is not to get charged for cleaning fees. So, you should also include cleaning carpet too. You should even include making minor repairs too so you will be able to get your security deposit back in full amount. Just make sure you take photos of every part of the unit so you will have a proof of the state of the place before you leave.
