Newcastleton, or Copshaw Holm is a village in the Scottish Borders, only a few miles from the border of Scotland with England. The village is in Liddesdale and is on the Liddel Water, and is the site of Hermitage Castle.Newcastleton was built as a result of the land clearances in the 1790s when people were forced to move from Old Castleton village. There has been a folk festival at Newcastleton since 1970. \"Copshaw Holm\" (another name for this same town) is celebrated in the song \"Copshawholm Fair\" written by David Anderson in 1830, as sung by Willie Scott among others . Newcastleton has two hotels, a few shops, a primary school and a church. It also has a doctor\'s surgery.
People from Hawick call themselves "Teries", after a traditional song which includes the line "Teribus ye teri odin".
The club groundshared at Ochilview Park, home of neighbouring Stenhousemuir, for the 2003?04 football season, before moving into their new home at the new Falkirk Stadium.
The first recorded name is Ecclesbrith, from the Cumbric for "speckled church". This was later replaced by the Scottish Gaelic cognate An Eaglais Bhreac, which remains the modern Gaelic name. The Scots name Fawkirk has the same meaning and this became the modern English name. The Latin name Varia Capella also has the same meaning.[2]Falkirk Old Parish Church stands on the site of the medieval church, which may have been founded as early as the 7th century.[3]
The Falkirk Stadium is a football stadium in Falkirk in central Scotland, which plays host to the home matches of Falkirk. The club moved to the stadium in 2004 after Brockville Park was sold to supermarket chain Morrisons.
